Beard Trends of 2022
Beard trends of 2022 are taking facial hair to the next level. Since Diesel Barbershop was founded in 2011, many thought the sudden popularity in beards was nothing more than a passing trend; a fad for Brooklyn and Portland hipsters to collectively hang their fedora hats on. Fast forward 11 years, and what was once a niche service is now mainstream. Over the past decade, we have seen major corporations relax their facial hair policies, allowing men to embrace the latest beard trends.
Diesel Barbershop has seen a variety of men’s beard trends come and go over the last eleven years, but the craze for facial hair is more popular than ever in 2022.
Though it appears as though the popularity of facial hair is here to stay, the look and lengths in style are constantly evolving. We connected with various Diesel Barbershop locations to see which beard trends they are seeing the most of in 2022.
THE 5 O’CLOCK SHADOW TREND
We connected with Diesel Barbershop in St. Johns, FL, to see what beard trends of 2022 seem to be popular in the warmer climates. The barbers at Diesel Barbershop Bartram Market are seeing a lot of the 5 o’clock shadow. The 5 o’clock shadow or stubble beard is as short of a beard as you can get. It’s classic, timeless, and always well received. David Beckham, Adam Levine, Zac Effron, and many more have made the designer stubble a staple of men’s grooming. With the temperatures being warmer in the sunshine state, this is an excellent choice for those who want to have some facial hair but not the added warmth that can come with a more traditional beard.
SCRUFFY BEARD TREND
Next, we checked in with Diesel Barbershop in Mooresville, NC, to see what types of trends they are seeing outside of Charlotte. The stylist at Diesel Barbershop Mooresville mentioned the scruffy beard seems to be the most popular choice from the beard trends of 2022. It is a slightly longer variation of the 5 o’clock shadow, but it adds a bit of grit to your look. It doesn’t matter if your beard is patchy or if it comes in extremely thick; scruff is a style anyone can wear. It is an excellent option for the man who wants facial hair but struggles with growing out a full-length beard.
SHORT ROUNDED BEARD TREND
When we connected with our Diesel Barbershop in Lawrenceville, PA, their barbers informed us of a beard variation that fits men with a round, square, or diamond-shaped face. The short round beard follows the natural curve of the face without adding too much additional bulk to the cheeks. The stylist mentioned for men with broader face shapes, too much length on the cheeks can have a chipmunk effect. This style makes the most sense for round-faced men out of any other of the beard trends of 2022. Let your beard grow for one to two months and keep everything at a uniform length to get the short rounded beard.
POWER BEARD TREND
Our last beard trend comes from Diesel Barbershop in Frisco, Texas. The trend in Frisco is what clients are calling the “power beard.” As the name implies, power beards mean business. It’s a beard style that perfectly toes the line between rugged and contemporary. Power beards, also known as natural beards, are between four and six inches in length. It’s at this length that your beard’s personality starts to show. Some will be straight, some will be wavy, and some curly. Learning advanced beard styling techniques is crucial, but the team at Diesel Barbershop feels confident they can help you master the technique. Proper products are key to maintaining these longer beards and can be found at any Diesel Barbershop location.
The beard possibilities are endless, and these are just a few of our barbershop’s favorites. If there is a style you are interested in trying, or you want advice on how to grow in a lush beard, contact one of our Diesel Barbershop locations, and we can get you scheduled.
