Because my mother has been a licensed hair stylist for most of my life, I basically grew up in a hair salon. As a result, for roughly the first 20 plus years of my life, I never had to worry about who, when, or how my hair was going to be cut.
When I moved away from my home town, I had to venture out into the world in search of someone else who was both reliable and good that could cut my hair. It soon became clear to me that most of the options that were available to me involved lots of gossiping women, tons of unnecessary drama and the wonderful smell of permanent solution. As for the cool barbershop where the guys could go to get a haircut, hang out and just be a guy? Well, there just weren’t any of those around anymore.
After searching for years for something better, it finally occurred to me that I was literally going to have to build this dream “barbershop” from the ground up. An updated version of the corner barbershop that appeals to what today’s men and boys want in a haircut experience. Welcome to Diesel Barbershop, the result of a 20 plus year journey that included feathered hair, mullets, goatees and faux-hawks. We’re part barbershop, part salon, part old school record store and part arcade. A man-cave for haircuts, if you will.
So come on by, play a video game, watch some TV, enjoy the music, or just get your hair cut in a shop that was made just for you.
I hope to see you soon.
